Miss Margie Says:
Children's books have always been the inspiration for movies from the early days of Disney, with "Snow White," "Bambi", "Pinocchio", etc. Fairytale characters and magical animals were just begging to be animated into cartoon format. But today, with the great innovations in computer technology, the scope of possibilities is endless and there are scores of Children's fantasy books now appearing on the big screen (with or without 3-D) , teeming with giant spiders, flying dragons, Greek Gods and Goddesses and all manner of magical creatures. . The latest of these is "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief". It all started in 2002 with the first Harry Potter movie and the "Fellowship of the Ring" adaptation of J.R.R Tolkien's book.
Others soon followed:
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Eragon
Golden Compass
Inkheart
Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Prince Caspian
Series of Unfortunate Events
Spiderwick Chronicles
Where the Wild Things Are
Come into the library and take out the book or movie of your choice. There are many more not on this list.
